Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday that Moscow hopes Germany will certify the Nord Stream 2 pipeline.
Peskov noted that Russia doesn't even want to consider the possibility of having to cut off gas supplies to Europe and remains confident the pipeline will become operational soon.
The remarks come after the German Energy Ministry insisted that Nord Stream 2 can only be filled with gas after it receives the country's authorization, while German Vice-Chancellor Robert Habeck called the construction of the pipeline a "geopolitical error" and stressed it is unclear when it will become operational.
