The Russian military announced on Friday that the country's Aerospace Forces killed Sirojiddin Mukhtarov, the leader of the Katiba Tawhid wal-Jihad "illegal armed group," in an attack on a militant camp in the province of Idlib in Syria.
According to Russian military official Oleg Yegorov, Mukhtarov was involved in "organizing terrorist attacks on government forces and civilian infrastructure facilities in Syria."
In addition to the militant leader, Moscow's forces killed more than 20 high-ranking members of the Jabhat al-Nusra organization after eliminating over 120 of them yesterday in the same region, Yegorov also revealed.
