On Tuesday, Russia slammed as unacceptable the US threats against the Syrian government. "We heard about this statement and we don’t know what it’s based on," Dimitry Peskov, Kremlin's spokesman, said after White House warned that Syrian President Bashar Assad’s forces are preparing to use chemical weapons.
Peskov said Kremlin "strongly disagrees" with the wording "another attack" as there was no independent international investigation of the previous usage of chemical weapons, Russia Today reported. "We do not believe it is possible to rest the responsibility on the Syrian armed forces,” Peskov said and warned of potential provocation by extremist organizations such as the Islamic State and other "criminal groups".
