Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) Director Sergey Naryshkin (pictured) said on Wednesday that the European Union leaders use "the Third Reich's propaganda techniques" to intimidate the European people, using an alleged Russian threat as an argument, according to the SVR press bureau.

"The European population is supposed to be convinced of the 'existential danger' emanating from Russia, which supposedly can only be averted by destroying the Russian state," the bureau said in a statement.

The SVR further noted that the EU leadership plans to brainwash people by stimulating basic human instincts while provoking fear of the "aggressive aspirations" of Russia and contempt for it.
