Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova ensured on Thursday that Moscow is ready to discuss initiatives outlined by the United States and Ukraine in a joint statement after their delegations met in Saudi Arabia earlier this week.

"We are willing, for our part, to discuss the initiatives set out there in future contacts with the American side. I can also say such contacts are possible today. We will certainly keep you informed of their outcome, depending on the details that we have," Zakharova said at a press briefing.

Zakharova's remarks come ahead of United States Special Envoy Steve Witkoff's arrival in Moscow for talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on a potential ceasefire with Ukraine.
