Progressives 'upset' with delay to spending bill vote - report

Progressive members of the United States House of Representatives are "upset" with the decision of the congressional Democratic leadership to move on with the vote on the bipartisan infrastructure bill without voting on it at the same time as on the social spending plan, The Guardian reported on Friday.

According to an unnamed source, there are "as many as two dozen progressives" who still do not want to give up their demands to pass both bills simultaneously and they may present an obstacle to the formal adoption of the infrastructure legislation by the House tonight.

Earlier in the day, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi clarified that the infrastructure vote is expected to take place today and that "some" lawmakers wanted "more clarification or validation of numbers" related to the social spending plan before voting on it as well and that their request has been honored. The second part of the economic agenda will thus be voted on before Thanksgiving on November 25, according to Pelosi.
