A Su-34 fighter jet from the Russian Aerospace Forces crashed during a training flight in the Volgograd region of the country on Saturday, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.

The ministry said the crew ejected safely and was unharmed, adding that the jet went down in an uninhabited area, and there was no damage reported on the ground.

The flight was conducted without any ammunition, adding that a technical malfunction likely caused the crash.
