Moscow's Ambassador to Washington, Anatoly Antonov (pictured), dubbed the latest wave of sanctions announced by the United States "thoughtless," warning that continued arms shipments to Ukraine were only prolonging the conflict.

The envoy expressed confidence that Washington and its allies will fail in their attempt to "strangle Russia" with sanctions. "Meanwhile, a crisis is raging in most of the countries instigating restrictions, the shortage of goods is growing and inflation is galloping," the ambassador told the reporters.

On February 24 which marks the one year anniversary since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, the European Union, the United States, and Canada announced new sanctions against Russia.
