Special forces snipers from the Russian National Guard took down four inmates at Colony #19 in Surovikino, located in the Volgograd region of Russia, to rescue hostages who had been captured by knife-wielding prisoners claiming affiliation with ISIS, Ria reported on Friday.
Four employees of the Federal Penitentiary Service were injured and subsequently admitted to Surovikinskaya Central Regional Hospital. Two of the injured individuals are in serious condition, while the other two are in moderate condition.
According to the reports, at least one of the four hostage-takers was killed during the operation, and all hostages were rescued.
