Russian natural gas shipments to Europe through Ukraine are set to cease following the expiration of a transit agreement on January 1, 2025, according to information showed by Ukraine's gas pipeline operator on Tuesday.

Data from the Ukrainian operator OGTSU indicated that deliveries through the sole entry point for Russian gas into Ukraine will fall to zero starting January 1, 2025.

Since 2019, Ukraine has facilitated the flow of Russian gas to Europe via its land under a five-year agreement. However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has decided against renewing this contract in light of Russia's ongoing invasion. The agreement is scheduled to terminate early on Wednesday.
