Yoon Suk-Yeol, the presidential candidate of South Korea's main opposition People Power Party, said he feels sorry for the investigation he lead that brought corruption charges against then-President Park Geun-hye.
Prior to running for president, Yoon worked as a senior prosecutor and was in charge of the probe that lead to Park's 22-year prison sentence. "Even though the investigation of former President Park was my job as a public official, I feel truly sorry politically and emotionally as a human being," Yoon said, per Yonhap News Agency.
Several days ago, the government decided to grant Park a pardon.
