The South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff revealed on Thursday that North Korea fired two short-range ballistic missiles into the East Sea (Sea of Japan). This is the second missile launch this week after the regime fired one over Japanese territory on Tuesday, which prompted a response from South Korea and the United States.

The US returned its aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan to South Korea's territorial waters following the latest developments. North Korea reacted by stating that it is "watching the US posing a serious threat to the stability of the situation on the Korean peninsula and in its vicinity by redeploying the carrier task force in the waters off the peninsula," according to Yonhap.
