Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Saturday, during a speech in Istanbul, that he is trying to keep Turkey safe from the consequences of the conflict that has been unraveling in Ukraine.
"Every day we strive to save our country from the consequences of the Russian-Ukrainian war. I spoke [on the topic of Ukraine] twice with [UN Secretary-General Antonio] Guterres in a week, and one of the conversations was today. We are trying to figure out how we can achieve peace," stated Erdogan.
The Turkish president asserted that "we strive every day to protect our nation against the cost of living that hurts all of us." Earlier, it was reported that Turkey's inflation reached a 20-year high, surging 61.14% in March.
