Senate confirms Brown Jackson to SCOTUS

The United States Senate confirmed on Thursday Ketanji Brown Jackson as the newest justice of the Supreme Court. She will replace Justice Stephen Breyer, who announced his retirement in January.

She received 53 Senate votes in support of her nomination, with three Republicans - Lisa Murkowski, Susan Collins and Mitt Romney - joining all 50 Democrats.

Brown Jackson will become the first black woman to be appointed to the SCOTUS.
