The United States Senate on Wednesday confirmed former Georgia Senator Kelly Loeffler (pictured) as the new administrator of the Small Business Administration (SBA).
The motion was passed with 52 senators voting in favor and 46 voting "no." One Democratic senator voted in favor of the motion along with all of her Republican colleagues. Two Republican members of the Senate did not cast their votes.
Loeffler was also chosen to be the co-chair of US President Donald Trump's inauguration committee in November last year. Trump praised Loeffler for her business experience and said she would help small businesses "thrive" and focus on reducing regulations.
