South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a press statement that North Korea has fired a ballistic missile in the direction of the East Sea (the Sea of Japan).
The military officials shared that they are currently analyzing the specifications of the projectile and its flight distance.
The launch comes only one week after Pyongyang tested its Hwasong-18 intercontinental ballistic missile and only a day after the United States nuclear-armed ballistic missile submarine made a port call in Busan, South Korea, as the two sides held an inaugural meeting of the Nuclear Consultative Group.
