Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico warned of strict reciprocal measures on Thursday if Ukraine fails to resume Russian gas transit through its territory.
Speaking after a meeting with European Union Energy Commissioner Dan Jorgensen in Brussels, Fico emphasized his country will respond decisively to what he perceives as harmful actions by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Among the measures, the prime minister mentioned cutting humanitarian aid to Kiev, including previously approved packages, and withdrawing social benefits from Ukrainian refugees in Slovakia.
"We can stop all humanitarian aid to Ukraine," Fico declared and also threatened to cease electricity supplies and use Bratislava's veto power against EU measures benefiting Ukraine.
