Spanish Ecological Transition Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Teresa Ribera said on Friday that a new gas pipeline in Western Europe could become operational within the next nine months.
"This new interconnection, this gas pipeline could be operating in about 8 or 9 months on the southern border side, that is, from the Pyrenean to Spain," Ribera told TVE.
On Thursday, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz spoke strongly in favor of a pipeline from Portugal, through Spain and France and noted he discussed the project with leaders of the three countries, as well as the European Commission. "Such a pipeline would massively relieve the supply situation now," Scholz stated.
