The People's Party (PP) won 47.5% of the votes in the regional election in Galicia, Spain, according to official results. The party, which is not part of Spain's national government, has ruled Galicia since 2009.
With its share of the vote, the PP will retain its absolute majority in the region, despite losing two seats compared to the previous election in 2020. The Galician Nationalist Bloc (BNG) came in second, gaining six seats compared to four years ago and reaching 25. The Socialists' Party of Galicia, affiliated with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez's Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE), was third and retained only nine seats, five fewer than in 2020.
