United Kingdom Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's Conservatives lost a by-election in Somerton and Frome as Liberal Democrat candidate Sarah Dyke won the parliamentary seat.
Dyke beat Tories' Faye Purbrick by more than 10,000 votes, while Labour's Neil Guild came in third place. The by-election was staged after Tory MP David Warburton stepped down amid allegations of sexual harassment. Tories also lost the seat in Selby and Ainsty, where they were beaten by Labour's Keir Mather.
Meanwhile, the Conservatives managed to hold on to the seat in Uxbridge and South Ruislip, previously held by former Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who stepped down as MP in June.
