Sunak calls Sweden's NATO accession 'historic'

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak commended Turkey's decision to back Sweden's bid to join NATO, hailing the move as "historic."

"This is a historic moment for NATO that makes us all safer. Sweden, we look forward to welcoming you into the Alliance," Sunak stated.

His remarks come after NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan agreed to ratify the protocol on Sweden's entry.
