Sweden has decided to suspend funding to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, news agency TT said on Tuesday, citing Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Johan Forssell.
The decision comes in response to claims that some UNRWA staff members were involved in the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7. "The money… will go instead to other humanitarian organizations," Forsell said.
The move aligns Sweden with several other countries that have raised concerns about UNRWA's conduct and its implications for regional stability.
