Tesla factory out of power until late next week, report says

EPA-EFE/FILIP SINGER

Tesla's factory near Berlin will remain without power until the end of next week following an arson attack on a power tower that significantly disrupted operations, Bild reported on Wednesday.

Initially, it was believed that production could resume by the end of this week, but the severity of the damage has led to a longer outage, a company spokesperson told the newspaper. The electric car manufacturer anticipates the financial impact to exceed hundreds of millions of euros, a forecast that is expected to increase as repairs continue.

The arson, claimed by the left-wing extremist Volcano Group, not only halted Tesla's production but also caused power outages for tens of thousands of residents. Law enforcement is investigating the attack.
