Tesla Inc. is recalling more than 14,000 S Electric Cars in China over a fault in the Takata airbags, the country's State Administration of Market Regulation announced.
According to the market regulator, vehicles affected were made between February 2014 and December 2016. The automaker will reportedly replace the airbags which contain ammonium nitrate propellant, which is susceptible to breakage that could result in the ejection of debris.
Takata filled for bankruptcy in 2017 after series of deaths and injuries were linked to a malfunction of its airbags.
