United Kingdom Prime Minister Theresa May officially submitted her resignation to Queen Elizabeth II. In her farewell speech, May once more reiterated she would continue to serve as the Member of the Parliament and implored the next leader of the cabinet to deliver Brexit in an "orderly manner."

Most of the cabinet members have already resigned during the past couple of days, with former Chancellor of the Exchequer Philip Hammond being the latest example.

Boris Johnson will be the next UK Prime Minister, after defeating Jeremy Hunt in a landslide victory to be declared the new Tory leader. Johnson will arrive at Downing Street later in the afternoon, where he will deliver his first speech as the prime minister.
