Former Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson, beat the sitting top diplomat Jeremy Hunt in the Conservative Party's leadership race, winning enough support to succeed Theresa May as the next prime minister, the ruling party announced on Tuesday at the Queen Elizabeth II Centre.
The total number of votes cast was 159,320, with Johnson winning 92,453 and Hunt collecting 46,656 votes of Conservative Party's members. The turnout was 87.4%, announced Dame Cheryl Gillan.
Johnson will assume the post on Wednesday, after a meeting with the Queen.
