After Canada beat the United States 3-2 in an ice hockey match that saw what US President Donald Trump called the "51st state" win the Four Nations Face-Off final, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau leaped at the chance to take a swipe at Trump.
"You can't take our country — and you can't take our game," Trudeau, whom Trump refers to as "governor" of Canada, wrote on X shortly after the win.
Hours before the game that was marked by political tensions spilling into the rink, Trump said he'd be calling the US hockey team "to spur them on towards victory tonight against Canada, which with FAR LOWER TAXES AND MUCH STRONGER SECURITY, will someday, maybe soon, become our cherished, and very important, Fifty First State."
