The Trump administration is preparing to slap new import tariffs on April 2, with sources telling the Washington Post on Wednesday that they could be worth "trillions" of dollars.
Since United States President Donald Trump returned to the White House, the tariffs have been raised on around $800 billion in imports from China, Mexico, and Canada, as per WaPo estimates.
"The last two months have already hurt American businesses and consumers, but the April 2 deadline seriously could make all of that look like a tempest in a teapot," economic policy analyst at Apricitas Economics, Joseph Politano, commented. Judging by the latest comments made by the US head of state, it doesn't seem like Washington will back off from the implementation of new duties.
