Trump admin to halt DACA requests, extend renewals

United States President Donald Trump's administration announced on Tuesday it will not accept new applications for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), introduced by former President Barack Obama, as the act is being reviewed.

It will, however, extend renewals of the requests of those who already applied for it, although the renewals will be limited to one year instead of the previously determined two.

Back in June, the Supreme Court ruled against Trump's attempt to end DACA and proclaim it illegal. The president subsequently confirmed he is working on a new executive order for immigration, which will include amnesty for Dreamers, or migrants who came to the country illegally, but as children.
