President of the United States Donald Trump took to Twitter on Monday to slam Democratic Senator Dick Durbin after the lawmaker reiterated his previous comment about the president using vulgar language when referring to immigrants coming from El Salvador, Haiti and African countries. "Senator Dicky Durbin totally misrepresented what was said at the DACA meeting. Deals can’t get made when there is no trust! Durbin blew DACA and is hurting our Military," Trump wrote.
Last week, Trump was accused of using insulting language during an Oval Office meeting on immigration, when argued against restoring protections for people coming from aforementioned countries. Even though Trump denied the allegations several times, a number of people present at the meeting confirmed he did use insulting words. Besides Durbin who claimed that Trump "said these hate-filled things, and he said them repeatedly,", Republican Senator Lindsey Graham also indicated that the allegations are true, while the House Speaker Paul Ryan said that Trump's remarks were "unhelpful and unfortunate."
Meanwhile, Trump's comments were met with fierce backlash abroad, with El Salvador's Foreign Ministry issuing an official diplomatic protest, while several African nations demanded an apology from Trump.
