US President Donald Trump on Friday pledged to hold accountable those who went after him while he was not in office, speaking at the US Justice Department, whose prosecutors had brought some of those cases.

"So now, as the chief law enforcement officer in our country. I will insist upon and demand full and complete accountability for the wrongs and abuses that have occurred. The American people have given us a mandate ... A far-reaching investigation into the corruption of our system is what they are demanding," Trump said. "We will expel the rogue actors and corrupt forces from our government."

Trump faced charges related to the unlawful handling of classified documents at his estate in Florida and attempts to challenge the outcome of the 2020 election during the presidency of Joe Biden.
