Former United States President Donald Trump took to Truth Social following the second apparent attempt on his life to thank the US Secret Service and law enforcement for keeping him safe.
"It was certainly an interesting day," Trump wrote, after a man, named by US media outlets as Ryan Wesley Routh, was arrested for what the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) said was an apparent attempted assassination attempt on the former president. He extended his gratitude to the Secret Service, Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw and "all of law enforcement" for keeping him "as the 45th President of the United States, and the Republican Nominee in the upcoming Presidential Election, SAFE."
Trump praised the work done to protect him as "ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING."
