United States President Donald Trump underlined on Thursday that he previously promised that if all the individuals taken hostage by Hamas on October 7 "are not home by the time I take office, all hell will break loose in the Middle East."

"I think they [Hamas] respected that statement. So we will see. We have more hostages to come and we hope they live up to their word," he said while addressing the National Prayer Breakfast.

He mentioned that he is still unsure whether this will happen, but insisted that "one way or another" everything would work out. "As president, I will not rest until every remaining hostage has been returned to their families," Trump stressed.
