Former President Donald Trump stated on Monday that the October 7 attack by Hamas was "horrible" but emphasized that Israel should conclude its military operations. The comment comes as US-Israeli relations suffer because the United States did not veto the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza but abstained.
"What I saw on October 7 was one of the saddest things I've ever seen. You have to finish up your war, and I am sure you will do that. You have to get the job done to get on to a normal life for Israel and for everybody else," the former president stated in a recent interview with Israel Hayom.
Trump also touched on the broader implications of the conflict, suggesting that Israel's public diplomacy efforts have been lacking, potentially contributing to international backlash. "I think Israel made a very big mistake. The world is seeing this, and that's a bad image. I think that's one of the reasons that there has been a lot of kickback," he added.
