United States President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that American troops would be withdrawing from Syria "relatively soon" but offered no specific timeline for soldiers leaving the Middle Eastern country. Speaking at the White House alongside his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, Trump determined troops should leave after "we accomplish what we have to accomplish," adding that the US wants to "leave a strong and lasting footprint" in the region.
President Macron agreed with his US counterpart on a broader strategy for Syria, stating that a political solution to the crisis in the war-torn country must be established. The French leader determined as well that the only way to establish peace and stability in the Middle East is to "contain" Iran and its nuclear activities.
On North Korea, President Trump was adamant he would seek complete denuclearization, lamenting the fact previous presidents have not dealt with the issue earlier.
