Turkish President Tayyip Recep Erdogan (pictured left) said on Monday that Turkey is ready to host a meeting with representatives of the United Nations, Ukraine and Russia after negotiations between Kiev and Moscow broke down. During a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin (right), Erdogan reiterated that Turkey is prepared to take part in a monitoring mechanism if the two sides reach an agreement.
Erdogan also stressed the need "for steps to minimize the negative effects of the war and build trust by reestablishing the grounds for peace between Russia and Ukraine as soon as possible."
