United Kingdom Prime Minister Rishi Sunak formally announced on Wednesday that the general election in Britain will be held on July 4.
"In the last five years our country has fought through the most challenging times since the Second World War," Sunak underlined in his opening remarks at Downing Street, stressing that King Charles III granted the approval to dissolve the Parliament next week, with people expected to head to polls in the summer.
Sunak also hailed the Conservative Party's success in bringing inflation "back to normal" and growing the country's economy. "You must choose in this election who has that plan, who is prepared to take the bold action necessary to secure a better future for our country and our children," the prime minister said.
