The diplomatic delegations from the United States and Iran have begun their indirect meeting in Muscat, Oman, the spokesman for the latter country's foreign ministry, Esmaeil Baqaei, announced on X.
According to the post, the teams are being led by US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. Oman's chief diplomat Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi is mediating.
"These talks will be held at a location planned by the Omani host, with representatives of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States seated in separate rooms, and the parties will convey their points of view and positions to each other through the Omani Foreign Minister," Baqaei explained.
