The US Small Business Administration (SBA) unveiled a major reorganization plan on Friday that includes a reduction of the SBA's workforce by 43%, eliminating non-essential positions and returning to pre-pandemic staffing levels. This move aligns the agency with President Donald Trump's economic priorities and confirms previous reports.
SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler criticized the agency's previous expansion, calling it a shift from its mission to a political agenda.
According to the SBA's official website, the agency currently employs 4,019 people. A 43% reduction means approximately 1,727 employees will be laid off.
