A Ukrainian delegation traveled to Washington on Friday to begin a new round of negotiations with the United States regarding a deal on Ukraine's natural resources, including critical minerals, the New York Times reported, citing officials in Kiev.
According to the report, the Ukrainian delegation is led by the country's Trade Representative, Taras Kachka, and also includes officials from the Ministries of Economy and Justice. The talks were reportedly set to begin today and last for two days without the presence of "top officials."
The report also stated that the new proposal reverted to US President Donald Trump's initial demand asking Ukraine to reimburse Washington for the billions in military and financial support it received since Russia's invasion. Ukraine also reportedly must provide half of its revenue from natural resource projects, including minerals, oil, and gas, to an investment fund managed by the US.
