The United States Central Command told domestic media that it killed Maher al-Agal in an airstrike in Syria on Tuesday.
According to the US military, al-Agal was "the leader of ISIS in Syria and one of the top four ISIS leaders overall," NBC reported. US President Joe Biden will start his visit to the Middle East tomorrow.
Last year, the US reported killing an "ISIS terrorist" in Afghanistan. The person who the American forces killed was in fact an aid worker who was employed by a US group.
