Major stock market indexes in the United States closed mostly lower on Friday after one series of earnings concluded, with tech companies seeing gains and others, such as Ford Motor Company and Chevron Corporation, reporting disappointing results. Investors will now look to the next five days filled with other firms' financial results, including those by Apple Inc. and Coinbase Global Inc.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 1.12% or 366 points lower, having declined by almost 450 points shortly before the bell, as Chevron sank by 6.68%. The S&P 500 went down by 0.48%, with Enphase Energy Inc. plunging by 14.60%. Meanwhile, the Nasdaq 100 grew by 0.50% as DexCom Inc. jumped by 10.13%.
The euro increased by 0.06% against the dollar at 3:58 pm ET to sell for $1.05687.
