The United States Department of Defense announced on Thursday that the State Department approved a possible military sale of Basler BT-67 Aircraft and related elements of logistics and program support for an estimated cost of $143 million.

The Pentagon's Defense Security Cooperation Agency said that Argentina asked to purchase Basler BT-67 aircraft and additional equipment and services, including spare engines, spares and repair parts, consumables, accessories, and repair and return services, as well as personnel training. "This proposed sale will support the foreign policy goals and national security objectives of the United States by improving the security of a major non-NATO Ally that is a force for political stability and economic progress in South America," the Pentagon added.

The US stressed that the principal contractor for the potential sale will be Basler Turbo Conversions and stressed there are "no known offset agreements proposed in connection with this potential sale."
