Annual inflation in the United States reached 3.2% in February after falling to 3.1% in January, the Bureau of Labor Statistics said in a report on Tuesday. Compared to the previous month, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) added 0.4%.
The monthly rise in inflation was mainly attributed to the price of shelter and gasoline, according to the report. The energy index rose 2.3% over the month, while the food index was unchanged from January. The annual core CPI, the index excluding food and energy, was at 3.8% in February, down from 3.9% in January. Month-on-month, core inflation added 0.4%.
