United States District Judge Ana Reyes blocked US President Donald Trump's ban on transgender service members indefinitely.
Reyes called the ban "soaked in animus and dripping with pretext," stating that "its language is unabashedly demeaning, its policy stigmatizes transgender persons as inherently unfit, and its conclusions bear no relation to fact." Furthermore, she wrote that the "defendants have not provided a legitimate reason for banning all transgender troops."
The preliminary injunction was paused until the morning of March 21, so the president's administration had time to appeal it to the District of Columbia Circuit Court of Appeals.
