In business news, Apple and Broadcom reached a major new deal while Zoom Video Communications recently posted its first-quarter earnings results.
The Dow Jones lost 0.43% at the opening bell, as Visa Inc. dropped 1.98%. The Nasdaq 100 fell by 0.52%, led by Zoom's 7.04% plunge. The S&P 500 decreased by 0.45%, with Steel Dynamics tumbling 4.57%.
The euro declined 0.30% against the dollar to sell for 1.07803 at 9:29 am ET, dropping to the lowest level since early April.
