Major stock markets in the United States opened Monday's session higher on the first day of trading after former President Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt during a rally in Pennsylvania. Besides being attentive to the politically agitated landscape in the country, investors are gearing up for remarks of Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell later today and a week loaded with earnings reports, in which financial institutions such as Goldman Sachs and BlackRock already revealed their performance for the Q2.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average index gained 0.64% at the opening and shortly after reached 270 points to a new all-time high with UnitedHealth Group Inc. jumping 3.67%. The Nasdaq 100 went 0.36% up, as Elon Musk's Tesla jumped 2.95%. The S&P 500 gained 0.39% with Super Micro Computer Inc. climbing 4.08%.
The euro was 0.08% higher against the dollar at 9:28 am ET, to sell for $1.09146.
