The United States Treasury Department issued fresh sanctions against North Korea on Tuesday, targeting four IT organizations supporting Pyongyang's "malicious" cyber activities.
In a statement on its website, the Treasury said that "today's action continues to highlight the DPRK's extensive illicit cyber and IT worker operations, which finance the regime's unlawful weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missile programs." The action was jointly taken with US partners from South Korea.
The organizations added to the US sanctions list include the Pyongyang University of Automation, the Technical Reconnaissance Bureau and its subordinate the 110th Research Center, as well as Chinyong Information Technology Cooperation Co.
