The Ukrainian parliament, Verkhovna Rada, voted on Tuesday to approve the dismissal of the country's Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov, People's Deputy of Ukraine Yaroslav Zheleznyak said in a Telegram post.

Zheleznyak noted that 327 lawmakers supported the move, while four opposed it and added the Rada is set to vote on Wednesday on the proposal to appoint Rustem Umerov as the new defense minister.

Over the weekend, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced he decided to replace Reznikov with Umerov, claiming the ministry needs "new approaches and other formats of interaction with both the military and society as a whole."
