European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen (pictured) stated Thursday that the European Union will stand by Ukraine to confront Russian aggression while stressing that the bloc will continue to help the country with weapons.
"If they say they need battle tanks, then we should take that seriously and supply them," she said in an interview with BILD TV. Later, she added that Ukraine knows precisely what it needs "to protect lives and defend itself."
Von der Leyen also affirmed that she favors the European states supplying what Ukraine needs. "After all, the Ukrainians are proving they can defend themselves if they have the right military means."
